I generally don’t find social media posts entertaining or informational.
I never believe that they are what they claim to be. But in this case it doesn’t matter if it is true.
Because the words in the piece are true, even if it’s a spoof of what it claims to be.
Anyway, go read the whole thing. You’ll be laughing quietly to yourself and thinking, “Go, Professor!”
I found the link in my Book of Face Wall of scribblings and HERE IT IS, so you too can read this treasure.
Allegedly…A professor at redacted University received a Memo from some students, who submitted it anonymously, about the professor’s allegedly “inappropriate conduct” consisting of wearing of a shirt bearing the words “Black Lives Matter” to school on at least one occasion, and the professor’s response to the tome in question.
This part was particularly delightful:
Premise: Saying "Black Lives Matter" is an expression of racist hatred of white people.
Critique: "Black Lives Matter" is not a statement about white people. It does not exclude white people. It does not accuse white people, unless you are a specific white person who perpetrates, endorses, or ignores violence against black people. If you are one of those people, then somebody had better be saying something to you. (I am using "you" here in the general sense as a substitute for "one" and not as in "you memo writers")
I also liked this ending part quite a bit. Every once in awhile someone posts a comment here, all in caps. I can’t read that stuff. It sort of hazes out into a cloud of unintelligible chicken scratchings:
DO NOT YELL AT THE READER. The power of your message should come from carefully chosen words that have been thoughtfully assembled, not from the size of your fonts. Capitalizing words does not make them more powerful. It just makes you look angry.
Go read it. I swear it won’t be wasted time. Our own Brillig is the one who shared it with me on the Book of Face. For that I say, THANK YOU!
