Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another.
Drop by and tell us about your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper. Newcomers may notice that many who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.

#CohenComey Music MondayThe last year has been filled with the trials and tribulations of one Donald [David Dennison] Trump.
Wait, that’s not quite correct. There haven’t YET been any trials of Trump (but I’m still hopeful that THAT will change with the fullness of time) and the tribulations appear to all have happened BECAUSE of Trump and not TO him.
More recently our public media (and let’s be honest, most of US) had been all enamored of the multitude of stories about one Michael Cohen, the apparent attorney of Trump and no one else, but who appears NOT to be doing any ‘lawyering’ for Trump — outside of the setting up and writing of NDAs (non-disclosure agreements) with women who ALLEGEDLY had sexual relationships with the sitting president prior to his election.
But the biggest news over the weekend was the incipient display of recorded interviews with former FBI Director, James Comey, and his newly published book “A Higher Loyalty”, which as of this writing is the #1 Best Seller at Amazon.com in Books.
I recorded and watched the Comey interview with George Stephanopoulos last night on ABC. It left me believing that Comey believed he was doing the right thing overall during the election — but I believe that those ideas of his about “the right thing’ were colored by his well-known life-long standing as a Republican (conservative).
Especially when he spoke about WHY he felt he needed to have public announcements about Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election.
YMMV, but I urge you all to watch that interview (or any one of the probably 2 dozen interviews he’s scheduled to have in the coming weeks).
And all of which left me with the mindset that this might be in our near future…
Talking about a revolution of the American political system and how we, as citizens, interact with our government — and how our Government is allowed to interact with us.
x xYouTube VideoBecause I love Tracy and her music, here’s some more:
Her best song, IMHO, is Fast Car.
x xYouTube VideoLast up is “Give Me One Reason”
x xYouTube VideoThat pretty much took up the weekend. Other than my cancelled (for the second time) weekend Board Game and Luncheon with my baby sister and the Reed sisters (Sara R and winglion); because my two daughters came all unglued on Friday over the news that their father is likely a victim of some form of cancer.
From my 3 years experience in a clinic whose 1200 patient base average age was around 65, the timing and number of tests he has already had, and the biopsy and sigmoidoscope guided exam scheduled for Monday and Tuesday this week, seem to be taking place rather quickly. In addition, without any testing other than a CT (which showed no masses, per my oldest) and a manual examination of his abdomen due to the patient reporting increasing pain and ascites (fluid in the abdomen) — the family is being told it’s most likely some form of cancer. Which seemed strange to me, but nothing about the man with whom I spent two decades ever seems normal to me.
I watched some tv, read a couple books, played with the Cats and made the best grilled cheese sandwich in the history of grilled cheese sandwiches (thick sliced sourdough with sharp Tillamook Cheddar & low-fat Mozarella) for dinner last night. Which closed out an interesting but troubling weekend, for me.
How was your weekend?
