Do you know that there are dozens of political offices in each and every community in the nation, and that there will be at least one in your town, city or county which has NO DEMOCRATIC candidate (statistically speaking)?
Why not let 2016 be the year in which We the People do what our founding fathers (and mothers!) meant when they signed the Declaration of Independence and created out of whole cloth a new nation and become the Government we seek?
I've been reading and writing here at Daily Kos since 2003 and those of us on the Left have been agitating that entire time for a more representative membership in our elected officials. We find out about more progressive and liberal candidates and work to help them get elected, sometime in our own states and sometimes in others.But what I've seldom seen here in Orange Territory is a lot of Kossacks who take that enthusiasm and energy and put themselves in the spotlight and declaring as a Candidate. Why ever not, I began to wonder about two years ago.
Then I saw the campaigns of one of our own in California, when Senaca Doane (Greg Diamond) ran for three different offices although he won none of them (and politely asked for some help to retire his campaign debt).
So this last year, after a lot of self-searching I made the decision that I would take the leap and run myself. I considered running for a lot of local positions, from county Commissioner to State Representative. But like a lot of places, all of those local positions are filled with people who are doing a decent job and are incumbents. I'd hardly want to get in a race and end up losing a Democratic seat to a Republican because my candidacy split the vote!
The seat I've chosen is likely going to be filled by the stepford wife Republican who has occupied it for three terms now, Jaime Herrera Beutler (R) come January 2017. But nothing is certain when it comes to politics, until the votes are counted.
So expect to hear a formal announcement from me about my entry into the US House WA-03 race sometime in either May or June. I'm still working on selecting a Treasurer and a campaign manager, and once that is done, I'll be shouting from the cheap seats, "Vote for ME!"
I've asked and am waiting for a response from OccupyDemocrats.com for the authorization to use this as part of my campaign materials. What do you all think of it?
America used to be great for a reason, we did great things. We can again. Because we ARE #StrongerTogether But what about the rest of you? Can any of you see your way to throwing your hat in the ring and taking a walk on the wild side with me in 2016? Have you ever imagined yourself becoming a politician instead of just talking about and voting against the ones who represent you now?There is the issue of money, let's be honest, that idea scares the hell out of far too many people and prevents them from running. But I'm not letting it scare me off. I've been stone cold broke for so many years, I just don't see how it could get any worse. Plus, I've got a plan for how to beat that lack of money, and it could be replicated ANYWHERE, in any state or county or city in the country. If you've been reading Meteor Blades this spring, you'll have heard about it already.
The 174K Precinct Organizing Project Get with your local County Democratic Party Central Committee. Talk to them about your desire to run for office. Discuss the 2nd Week Canvassing project (canvassing each precinct in the District the 2nd week of July, August, September and October every year). Talk about how you plan to use the Power of the People and not the power of money to win votes.
This plan will take time, shoe leather and determination to bring about the result I desire. But I've never been afraid of hard work and I've got nothing to lose by using this campaign strategy.
Neither would any of you, excepting some time.
So how about it. I'm challenging each and every one of you to either become a candidate or FIND a candidate where you live to help run for office next year.
If we want a better country, then it's up to US to do something about it.
That starts with some of us becoming the Government we seek, at every level from your local city to the US Congress.

Because we can't sit idly by and let guys like this (or their minions) run everything, they'll burn the place down around us...
