As of today, there are over 70 million registered users of Instagram/META’s new social media platform, Threads (per Zuckerberg via CBS News).Â
I am one and so is kos.Â
I’ve found a lot of accounts that I followed for years now on the dying Birdhouse, at Threads today.
I have the same excited feeling I had when I first stuck a feather in the Birdhouse pool back in 2009.Â
The best part, the team at Threads/Instagram are actively rooting out vile and unworthy cretins and tossing them out the door already.Â
So if you’ve tried any or all of the other platforms out in the past year and not found the one you were waiting for?Â
THIS IS IT.Â
But you need to go make an Instagram account first, to be able to make a Threads account (they will be intrinsically linked and you can import all of your Instagram account data over if you want to).Â
Ease of use? A+++
Aims to expand tech options (like add a chronological view tab) are already underway.Â
Maya Wiley just liked a comment I sent her.Â
The first person to send a request to follow me was @ironstache (his account on Threads)Â our old Wisconsin friend Randy Bryce.Â
I may already be a bit addicted, but hey, it’s not drugs or sugar, so it’s fairly harmless. Right?
All of the content you want, none of the crazy.Â
Don’t wait, jump on in, the water is warm and cozy!Â
FYI: at this time there is no URL to use the platform. You can load Threads from the Apple & Google app stores, and use it on a Chromebook laptop (that’s what I have and I don’t know about Microsoft PCs) or an iPad — but all you’ll get is one of those smartphone sized windows you cannot enlarge to work on.Â
Yes, for many of you it will be trading one evil billionaire (Elon Musk) for another (Mark Zuckerberg), but until some progressive tech genius creates something tens of millions can agree is the place to be, this is the choice that faces us.
