Should the Nov 5th elections go our way, all down the ballots, giving us a White House & a Dem Majority Congress?
I will be starting a new group DK Congressional Lobby
In which I, and others who want to participate, will be writing DK stories polling the Community on the issues which we should be lobbying the new Congress to take up on Jan 3, 2025 (the first day of the new Congress).
In December we can start sharing chosen listed issues we believe they must take up within the first 100 days (some of them will be required on Day One/Jan 3rd; like killing Senate Rule 22 and restoring to the Senate The Previous Question Rule, in it’s place — all of this to end 60 vote requirements in the Senate, except for special circumstances enumerated in the Constitution already, like affirming Treaties, etc.).
We can offer up the Daily Kos Users and Readers a sample letter they can email to their Members of Congress or can use to call their own members directly at their DC Office phone numbers.
There is one phone number for every to use to call the Switchboard at the Congress and all you need to know for them to send transfer you to YOUR Senator or House Rep is your zip code/home address where you are listed as a voter.
I took this screenshot circa 2015 at my home (oddly enough, Walter Einenkel also has this very image uploaded but shows it as owned by Getty Images, huh, that’s weird.) so anyone who wants to keep a copy on hand, go ahead and copy and save it somewhere!
So, anyone want to join me in this quixotic quest to bring the influence of Daily Kos registered users and Readers to the attention of the new Congress-elect (hopefully a majority Dem Congress) late this winter before the first session on Jan 3, 2025?
