I did, I attended a Presidential Primary watch Party at the local ILWU Local #4 (Int'l Longshore and Warehouse Union) Hall with about (100 predicted, will update after event) 40some attendees at the event. This was a Bernie Sanders sponsored event - but Hillary Clinton got local applause twice - both times she appeared to go off script and had some passion in her voice.
This local candidate for Port Commissioner, Eric Labrant, was present and we spoke briefly about my plans to bring a version of 90for90.org to WA State & his upcoming election in just three weeks!
I'll be picking up a few yard signs from him tomorrow and placing them near the Costco (five minutes from my house, yeah!) where thousands shop every day and per store bring Costco in nearly 1/2 a million in revenue each day on the average. A VERY high-traffic area and one where he has no signs. I'm going to fix that!
I've met Peter Harrison now three times, and each time he has impressed me more. He ran for office here before and lost, but he has his eye on a State Senate seat which is likely to come open in three years.
I'll be ready to help him when he runs, because he is the kind of person we need more of in elected office - smart, concerned about the future and ready to work hard to make the world (and our little corner of it) a better place.
While at the debate, I introduced myself as a candidate for the US House. I wasn't prepared to speak, but I dove right in, discussing BRIEFLY the last 30 years of increasing American labor productivity but stagnant wages. I reminded them that the reason we keep seeing this happen is because too many Republicans get elected! I encouraged them to come out in 2016 and run for office themselves and BECOME the change they are looking for. I reminded them that we are #StrongerTogether and that I hoped that they would lend me their support during the coming year. Then? I got a really nice round of applause! So, that was a lively and successful event, at least from my point of view.
Tell me about anything you want to, let's just not have a pie fight over who won, because I don't think that is important. Really, what I want to know most is, do you think the five additional debates which are scheduled will be sufficient or should we demand more of them from Chair of the DNC, Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23)?
Here's My Night at the Debate:
Live, by yourself or with a group - Live, with a group Recorded/DVR'd, by yourself or with a group In a private or public setting - Public setting, Union hall Were you with a group for a specific candidate - yes Were you with a group looking to find a candidate Did you like/dislike the format For a debate, not bad Did you like/dislike the Host/Moderator Anderson Cooper surprised me & did a good job Did you like/dislike the questions They were okay Did they all get a fair amount of time Jim Webb doesn't think so Did you find it informative, did you learn anything new I didn't learn anything new factually Did you find it interesting - Even though I didn't learn anything new, it WAS interesting.
I hope that the current DNC Chair, Rep Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Fl-23) can be persuaded to hold more debates. I believe that we need more than six of these events to really find out what we need to know about these candidates.
as always...
