THE lesson from #Election2020 which The Democrats had better learn? Turnout is EVERYTHING.

The current reported vote total

for 2020 (and it’s not complete yet) for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is 77,723,801 and all votes, regardless of Party, for President/Vice President is projected by NBC News to be at least 159.8 million.

In 2008 the FEC put those numbers at

Democratic Party: 69,498,516

Republican Party: 59,948,323

All vote regardless of Party: 131,313,820

In both of these Election cycles the generally accepted result of both elections is a huge win for the Democratic Party.

It shouldn’t be.

THIS should be what the Democratic vote should look like every election cycle.

If it did? The Republicans would be a permanent minority in our politics early and their ability to endanger our Republic would be over, because within another 20 years, their 99.9999% white base will be a permanent minority in our increasingly minority-majority population.

So the question is

how do we keep the Democratic voters casting a ballot every cycle?

Because depending upon the rise of another fascist, authoritarian Republican like Donald Trump to show up on the ballot every four years, as a way to scare the living shit of everyone isn’t a good game plan, folks.

Personally, I think we need a Voter Registration National Captain, someone to be the face of the Party on Voter Registration.

If Biden doesn’t try and appoint her to a Cabinet Position or some Fed Agency, I suggest the grassroots raise a hue and cry for Stacey Abrams to be that person.

Why? Her focus post-2018 has been her group Fair Fight

We promote fair elections in Georgia and around the country, encourage voter participation in elections, and educate voters about elections and their voting rights. Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in other voter education programs and communications.

Voter suppression of voters of color and young voters is a scourge our country faces in states across the nation.  Georgia’s 2018 elections shone a bright light on the issue with elections that were rife with mismanagement, irregularities, unbelievably long lines and more, exposing both recent and also decades-long actions and inactions by the state to thwart the right to vote. Georgians and Americans are fighting back. Fair Fight Action engages in voter mobilization and education activities and advocates for progressive issues; in addition Fair Fight Action has mounted significant programs to combat voter suppression in Georgia and nationally.

Fair Fight PAC has initiated programs to support voter protection programs at state parties around the country and is engaging in partnerships to support and elect pro voting rights, progressive leaders.

No one I can think is better suited or better prepared to do this.

Two years from now, it’s VERY likely that Abrams will be back running for Governor of Georgia, and in 2022, I predict that she will win that seat.

But the voters of America needs her for the next two years to get Fair Fight national and THE place for Democratic voters who what to help and not just send money to look to every election cycle.

This could be a game changer for the liberal people in America, when it comes to elections and the future of our Party and our country.
