The Threads app now has over 150 million registered users
according to Business Insider [https://www.businessinsider.com/threads-150-million-downloads-100-million-active-users-engagement-2023-7]. That number was over 100 million 2 days ago.
Markos posted to Twitter on the 6th of July that he was moving to Threads

Instagram CEO (and currently helping launch Threads) Adam Mosseri (@mosseri on Threads) posted 3 days ago (July 11th) about upcoming improvements (shown below) and also posted again about upgrades including a URL based version of the app!

With so many people joining @threads so fast these last six days (six days!) the team has been entirely focused on keeping the lights on and fixing bugs, but we're starting to priorite the obvious missing features, like a following feed, the edit button, and post search. We're clearly way out over our skis on this, but the team is pumped to start shipping improvements this week. 🧵🚀
