.. something I had never imagined before (yeah, ironic, right?) occurred to me.
Was John setting a premise for a future in which the Path to Peace is a one world government?
Because the only reason, in the modern era, for there NOT to be a single unified government for our world is that the rich fuckers need us to keep making war on each other, so they can continue to reap the ONLY benefit that war provides: it keeps the quatloos rolling into their War Machine businesses.
IMAGINE if we could take every gods-be-damned dollar spent on bullets, full-automatic, high velocity rifles, tanks, Battleships, Carriers ships, F-35s, F-22 and every other type of military warplane, Military Bases… and all of the rest I just can’t bear to think about at this point — and spend them on the single most dangerous thing on Earth today.
Fighting Climate Change.
So that our grandchildren’s grandchilden’s grandchildren might still have a world that can support human life.
Spend it on research into new medical drugs and therapies — as a world, and provide them at the cost of production, instead of making a few people obscenely wealthy.
I’m not suggesting communism or even socialism; merely that the money burnt on the alter of WAR could make life for all of us a paradise here on Earth.
Innovators would still dream up new things and sell them. Highly regulated capitalism is a benefit to mankind, it is only unregulate capitalism which is the deathknell of freedom.
So keep your country boundaries and your culture, but force all of the politicians in the world into a SINGLE BODY and make the laws the same for everyone, everywhere.
Freedom and self-determination would win going away in that world, every time.
There would never be another Elon Musk or Donald Trump or Putin or Stalin or Ghengis Khan, because no single leader could ever amass power propped up by weapons of war again.
I hope everyone thinks about this just for a moment as our nation gets ready to see an atrociously expensive dish of Breads & Circuses rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue in two more days.
Because SHOULDN’T a future without war be the goal of all mankind?
